The 12th EUSDR Annual Forum: first day

💡 The 12th EUSDR Annual Forum started today in Brdo pri Kranju, featuring high-level representatives from the EU, national governments, civil society, regional and local authorities to discuss the progress of the EUSDR and shape the future of the Strategy.
 
During the 1st day participants:
🔹 officially opened the 12th EUSDR Annual Forum with Slovenian ministers and EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms
🔹 exchanged views on how the future of the Danube Region and its "power of youth" is seen by different stakeholders and generations during the DYC`s panel
🔹 discussed the role of regional cooperation within the EU enlargement process with 6 EUSDR Ministers and Ambassadors
🔹 tackled the future of cooperation and development in the Danube Region and the role that the new Danube Region Programme can play in supporting these efforts, focusing on Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova
 
🇺🇦 Special attention was paid on the role of local and regional stakeholders and civil society in the recovery of Ukraine and its path towards the EU. The director of Ukrainian Institute for International Politics Nadija Afanasieva moderated this session and provided background on Ukrainian EUSDR Presidency in 2022.
 
This discussion involved representatives of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova, as well as civil society representatives from Slovenia, Ukraine and the Danube Region.
 
The main framework of Ukraine's approach to reconstruction was outlined by Oleksandr Nikolaev. He also stressed the important role of EU macro-regional strategies as platforms for sharing experiences and best practices.
Igor Studennikov (Centre for Regional Studies, Odesa, Ukraine) focused on the need for common financial instrument between Moldova and Ukraine for effective tackling urgent needs and more productive cooperation between two countries on their way to EU membership.
